G.F. Handel: Chaconne in G major HWV 435
Dimitris Chrisanthakopoulos was born in Patras (Greece) where he took his first piano lessons at the age of 7. Having already obtained his Diploma in Piano Performance with the highest distinction (1st prize, 2005) he was accepted to study at the prestigious “Schola Cantorum” in Paris, under the guidance of the renowned pedagogue and soloist Agathe Leimoni, graduating in 2009. Moreover, he has a Bachelor’s Degree in “Finance”, a Master’s Degree in “Cultural Administration”, and is currently studying “Media and Communication” at the University of Athens.
As a soloist, he has appeared in cities in Greece and abroad, such as London, Paris, San Daniele, Budapest, Ljubljana and Moscow: In Budapest, at the Ferenc Liszt Emlékmúzeum where he appeared twice, he had the honour to try the legendary Hungarian composer’s piano,. He has actively participated in various seminaries and masterclasses, has received awards and prizes in national and international competitions, has collaborated with acclaimed maestros, artists and cultural institutions, and has recorded for Greece’s National Radio.
For almost 2 decades now he teaches piano, with some of his pupils already pursuing music careers professionally. He often ventures in genres of music outside the “classical” world, such as jazz, pop, and folk music, working with singers, actors, and choreographers and taking part in concerts, theatrical plays, and musical productions. Finally, he has composed music for theater, animation, and contemporary dance.
