Duo Sin Cuerdas & Stefanos Sekeroglou

Duo Sin Cuerdas is formed by pianist Tonia Makatsianou and bandoneonist Kostas Zigeridis.

After their initial musical studies in non-urban parts of Greece, their artistic journeys led them to Paris and Buenos Aires — two cities with a deep connection to tango — where they immersed themselves in its repertoire and aesthetics, studying alongside musicians who have played a key role in the genre’s evolution.

In this project, the duo adapts some of their favorite pieces for two iconic tango instruments, seeking to build a melodic bridge from 1930s Argentina to contemporary Europe. The concert unfolds like a radio broadcast, moving through different styles of tango and enriched with anecdotes and historical context.

Starting with works by Pedro Laurenz, moving through the creations of Horacio Salgán and Aníbal Troilo, and arriving at the compositions of Astor Piazzolla, the journey of 20th-century Argentine music unfolds paso a paso — step by step.

For this particular concert, Duo Sin Cuerdas is joined by violinist Stefanos Sekeroglou. Present in tango ensembles since the genre’s early decades, the violin adds a new sonic dimension and brings new depth to the duo’s sound.
